Montessori Program
Thank you for your interest in our Montessori program, our classrooms are based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, Italy's first woman physician who used her scientific training to observe how children will teach themselves given an appropriately prepared environment.
In our classrooms, the children are guided through both the traditional and the modern approach of the Montessori Method & its values. this is done in a prepared and nurturing environment, which includes a trained teacher who is called a "guide". Our prepared environment along with a trained guide allows each child to discover, experience, develop so Learning occurs naturally and joyfully at the proper moment for each child and according to his/her own pace.
Our classroom curriculum are divided into 5 areas which are:
-
Practical Life
-
Sensorial
-
Language
-
Math
-
Culture
Practical Life Activities presented in this area are designed to develop the child's hand and eye co-ordination, motor skills, independence and concentration. when these activities are mastered, it will improve the children sense of responsibility, self-worth and confidence, Some of the activities learned are pouring, spooning, and transferring etc. Social Grace and Courtesy are also incorporated in this area. The primary goal in Practical life is to take care of ones self and the environment.
Sensorial the materials provided help to develop the child's sensory-motor capabilities of the five senses. sequencing, matching, classifying and sorting activities are introduced in this area to help indirectly prepares the child for other areas of development like reading, language and math. Language and Phonics Montessori Method of introducing language is by teaching the child the phonetic sounds of the letters. By using this approach, the child learns the technique to word-building, reading, speaking and writing.
Mathematics Materials found in this area are carefully designed to allow the child to have the hands on experience in order to grasp the concept of quantity. having to touch, feel and see a concrete object will create opportunities for the child to develop full understanding and a good head start in learning simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and the decimal system.
Culture, Geography and Science Creative three part lessons activities and presentations allowing exploration and general knowledge greatly help in giving the child self-worth and confidence to last him a lifetime.
In addition we also introduce the following: Creative Art, simple Science experiment and Yoga.
